New tyres fitted in Braintree

New Tyres in Braintree – Fitted While You Wait

We keep a wide range of new tyres in stock at our Broad Road workshop and we can usually fit them the same day you call. Tell us your tyre size, or read it off the sidewall while you are on the phone, and we will give you a straight price with fitting, a new valve, balancing and disposal of the old tyre included.

  • Car, van and 4x4 sizes
  • Budget to premium brands
  • Fitting & balancing included

01Which new tyre is right for your car?

Most drivers doing school runs and short trips around Braintree are best served by a good mid-range tyre. If you cover big motorway miles on the A120 or A12 every week, a premium tyre usually pays for itself in wet grip and how long it lasts. If you are keeping the car another few months, a budget tyre from a brand we know is a sensible call. We will tell you honestly which one suits how you drive rather than pushing the dearest one on the rack.

02What is included when we fit new tyres

The price we quote covers the tyre, fitting, a new valve, wheel balancing and taking your old tyre away. We check the pressures on all four wheels before you leave, and we torque the wheel nuts properly rather than rattling them up with an impact gun. If we spot uneven wear that points to your tracking being out, we will show you the tyre and explain what we have seen.

03Two tyres or four?

You do not have to replace all four. If only the fronts are worn, two new tyres on the front is fine, and we will make sure they are a matched pair on the same axle. If you are replacing two on a car with worn rears, we will talk you through which axle the new pair is better on for your car.

Reading the markings on your tyre

Those numbers on the sidewall tell us everything we need. In 205/55 R16 91V, the 205 is the width in millimetres, 55 is the sidewall height as a percentage of that width, R16 is the rim size in inches, 91 is the load index and V is the speed rating. We match load and speed ratings to what your car was built for, because dropping below them can affect insurance and MOT.

  • 205 — tread width in mm
  • 55 — profile, sidewall height as a % of width
  • R16 — rim diameter in inches
  • 91 — load index
  • V — speed rating

Summer, winter or all season?

Most Essex drivers are best on a good all-season or standard summer tyre. We get a handful of frosty weeks, not Alpine winters, so a quality all-season gives you better grip below seven degrees without the noise and quick wear of a full winter tyre. If you drive rural lanes around Rayne and Shalford through the winter, it is worth a conversation.

Vans, 4x4s and light commercials

We fit plenty of Transits, Vivaros and Rangers. Van tyres carry a C or reinforced marking and a higher load index, and running a car tyre on a loaded van is both unsafe and an MOT problem. Tell us the van and how you load it and we will put the right rubber on it.

Wheel balancing and why it matters

A new tyre is never perfectly even, so we spin every wheel on the balancer and add small weights until it runs true. Skip it and you get a steering shimmy at 50 to 70mph, scalloped wear across the tread and extra load on your suspension. It is part of our fitted price, not an add-on.

How it works

Getting new tyres sorted, step by step

  1. 01

    Read us your size

It is on the sidewall, like 205/55 R16 91V. Phone it through or send a photo on WhatsApp.

  2. 02

    We price and check stock

You get budget, mid and premium options with fitting included, and we confirm what is on the shelf.

  3. 03

    Drive in to Broad Road

No appointment needed. If your size has to come in, it is usually here the next morning.

  4. 04

    Fitted, balanced, torqued

New valve, wheel balanced on the machine, nuts torqued to spec and all four pressures set.

Prices

What affects the price

There is no single price for a new tyre, because a 155/70 R13 on an old Micra and a 255/35 R20 on a big estate are worlds apart. Give us the numbers off your sidewall and you get a full fitted price on the phone — no hidden extras added when you arrive.

Ring 01376 433951 for a fitted price.

  • Tyre size

Width, profile and rim diameter. Bigger rims and low profiles cost more to buy in.

  • Brand tier

Budget, mid-range or premium. We stock all three and explain the real difference in wet braking and mileage.

  • Speed & load rating

Vans and heavier cars need reinforced or higher load ratings, which we always match to your handbook.

  • How many you need

One, a pair on the same axle, or a full set. Pairs and sets usually work out better per tyre.

Questions we get asked

New Tyres questions

The things Braintree drivers ask us most about new tyres.

Do I need to book to have new tyres fitted?

No. You can drive in during opening hours, though a quick call first means we can check we have your size on the shelf before you set off.

How long does fitting a new tyre take?

A single tyre is usually about fifteen minutes once we start, and a full set of four is normally under an hour.

How do I find my tyre size?

It is printed on the sidewall, in a format like 205/55 R16 91V. Read that to us over the phone or send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will price it up.

Do you fit tyres to alloy wheels?

Yes. We fit to steel and alloy wheels and we are careful with the rim edge and finish.

Need new tyres today?

Call 01376 433951 or send a WhatsApp with your tyre size and we will get you sorted. Drive in Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
