Why drivers choose us

A Braintree tyre shop that gives you a straight answer

Uncle Sam Tyres is run by Saadeddine Naboulsi from the yard behind 282 Broad Road. Small enough that you speak to the person fitting your tyres, stocked well enough to do it today.

  • /Local and independent

A Braintree tyre shop run by Saadeddine and a small team, not a national chain reading off a script.

  • /New and part worn

Two honest options in most sizes, so there is always something that fits the budget you have today.

  • /Open six days a week

Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, with bank holidays covered 10am to 4pm, so a Saturday tyre problem does not have to wait.

  • /While you wait

Most tyres and puncture repairs are done in under half an hour with the kettle on.

  • /Straight pricing

The price we quote on the phone includes fitting, balancing, a new valve and old tyre disposal.

  • /Honest advice

If a repair will do, we repair it. If a tyre is not safe, we say so and show you why.

New or part worn?

Two honest options, whatever this week's budget looks like

The UK legal minimum is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tread. We measure yours before we sell you anything — and if you have plenty of life left, we will tell you that too.

New tyres

Full tread depth, newest rubber, longest life. The cheaper choice per mile if you are keeping the car.

  • Budget, mid-range and premium brands
  • Best for regular A120 and A12 mileage
  • Ordered in overnight if your size is unusual

Part worn tyres

Checked, legal and a lot less cash today, which matters when a tyre lets go at the wrong time of the month.

  • Inspected inside and out before we fit it
  • Well over the 1.6mm legal minimum
  • Marked and sold to UK part worn rules

What drivers say

Word of mouth around Braintree

  • Picked up a screw on the way to work, called Sam and he had it patched and back on the car in twenty minutes. No fuss, no upsell.

    Dan, Bocking
  • Needed two tyres on a tight week. He showed me the part worns, checked the tread in front of me and it cost half what I expected.

    Michelle, Great Notley
  • Steering was pulling badly. Tracking sorted the same afternoon and the car drives straight again. Handy that they are open right through to 6pm.

    Reece, Witham

Warning signs

When to get your tyres looked at

Free tread and pressure check any day we are open. Two minutes on the forecourt beats a blowout on the A120.

Ring 01376 433951 and describe the problem.

  • Tread close to the 1.6mm limit, or wear bars level with the tread
  • One tyre keeps needing air — usually a slow puncture or leaking valve
  • A bulge, split or cut in the sidewall, which means replacement
  • Cracked rubber on a low mileage car, which is age rather than wear
  • Vibration through the steering at 50 to 70mph, often balancing
  • The car pulls to one side or the wheel sits off centre — tracking

Questions we get asked

Tyre questions from Braintree drivers

Do I need an appointment?

No, we take walk-ins all day, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm. A quick call on 01376 433951 first just means we can have your size ready when you arrive.

How much are your tyres?

It depends on your size and whether you want new or part worn. Ring us with the numbers off your sidewall and we will give you a straight price with fitting included.

Are part worn tyres safe?

The ones we sell are. Every part worn tyre is inspected inside and out, has well over the legal minimum tread and is sold to the standards that apply in the UK. Anything we are not happy with gets scrapped.

How long will I have to wait?

A single tyre or a puncture repair is usually twenty minutes or so. A full set of four is normally under an hour, and you are welcome to wait with the car.

What is the legal tyre tread limit in the UK?

1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tread, all the way round. We check tread free of charge if you are not sure where yours is.

Do you balance the wheels when you fit tyres?

Yes, balancing, a new valve and disposal of the old tyre are all part of the fitting price.

How do I know if my tracking needs doing?

If the steering wheel is off centre on a straight road, the car pulls to one side, or one edge of a front tyre is worn away, your tracking is very likely out.

Where exactly are you in Braintree?

Round the back of 282 Broad Road, Braintree CM7 5NW. Pull into the yard at the rear and you will see the tyre bay.
